Auditor Activity Deadlines

Indiana Law dictates certain dates for assessment activities.  The deadlines are listed below in an effort to keep all taxpayers informed and up-to-date.

  • January 31-deadline to file the Annual Salary Report (100R) with SBOA  IC 5-11-13-1 
  • February 15-deadline for DLGF to certify budgets, tax rates and tax levies  IC 6-1.1-17-16
  • March 1-deadline to file the Annual Report with SBOA  IC 5-11-1-4
  • March 15-deadline to complete and submit the County Abstract to the state  IC 6-1.1-22-5
  • May 9-last day to publish final notice of tax rates (April 25-First & May 2-Second)  IC 6-1.1-22-4 
  • June 30-deadline for Property Tax distribution of May collections. IC 6-1.1-27-1
  • August 1-deadline to certify net assessed values to DLGF  IC 6-1.1-17-1
  • October 12-final day to post notice to taxpayers of proposed budget, net taxes & public hearing, Budget Form 3 to Gateway  IC 6-1.1-17-3
  • October 22-last possible day to hold a public hearing (deadline is subject to the scheduling of the adoption meeting)  IC 6-1.1-17-5
  • October 30-last possible day ten or more taxpayers may object to the current proposed budget, tax rate, or tax levy.  Objection must be filed not more than seven days after the public hearing.  This deadline is subject to the scheduling of the public hearings.  IC 6-1.1-17-5(b) 
  • October 31-deadline to adopt ordinance modifying local income tax rates effective for incoming year  IC 6-3.6-3-3 
  • November 1-deadline for all taxing units to adopt incoming year budgets, tax rates, and  tax levies  IC 6-1.1-17-5(a)
  • December 31-deadline for Property Tax distribution of November collections. IC 6-1.1-27-1

Real Property Deductions applications must be completed and dated in the calendar year for which the applicant desires to obtain the deduction and it must be filed with the county auditor or postmarked on or before January 5 of the immediately succeeding calendar year.  http://www.in.gov/dlgf/2344.htm

Mobile Home Deductions and manufactured homes not assessed as real property applications must be filed during the 12 months before March 31 of the year for which the applicant desires to obtain the deduction.  http://www.in.gov/dlgf/2344.htm
