2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Outbreak
2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is a virus identified as the cause of an outbreak of respiratory illness first detected in Wuhan, China. There have been several hundred human infections that have been confirmed in China with reported deaths. Additionally, exported cases have been reported in Japan, Thailand, South Korea, and the United States. Initially most infected people reported exposure to a large seafood and animal market in Wuhan City, suggesting a potential zoonotic origin. However, a growing number of cases did not report visiting the market, indicating limited person-to-person transmission. Prevention and control measures are being implemented in several cities in China and traveler screenings are now in place in the US.
