Boone County to Launch ‘Operation Green Light’ in Support for Local Veterans
BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (November 3, 2022) — In advance of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday, Boone County has announced the County Courthouse and Boone County Sheriff’s Office will be illuminated green November 7 through the 13.
This is part of Operation Green Light, a new national collaborative initiative of the National Association of Counties (NACo) to support military veterans. This program is used to raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by many veterans and the resources that are available at the county, state, and federal level to assist veterans and their families.
The new national collaborative is spearheaded by the National Association of Counties and the National Association of County Veteran Service Officers.
Operation Green Light symbolizes Boone County’s great respect, admiration, and utmost gratitude for all the men and women who selflessly served our country and this community in the armed forces. The Boone County Commissioners would like to thank County Councilwoman Jennifer Hostetter and Treasurer Nicki Baldwin for presenting this resolution.
All residents and business owners are encouraged to display their own green lights for Veterans Day on November 11.
“Veterans deserve our recognition. The contributions and sacrifices made by those who served in the Armed Forces have been vital in maintaining the freedoms and way of life enjoyed by our community,” said Commissioner Tom Santelli. “This initiative further reinforces Boone County’s commitment to our veterans.”
