Boone County Launches Holiday Wreath Contest to Support Local Charities
LEBANON, Ind. — Boone County has kicked off a festive new tradition with the Boone County Government Christmas Wreath Contest, running now through Thursday, December 12 at 4:00 p.m. The friendly competition features seven hand-crafted wreaths created by various local government agencies, all displayed for public viewing and voting.
Visitors can cast their votes via Venmo or with cash, with every dollar counting as one vote. The agency whose wreath receives the most votes will earn bragging rights—and a celebratory pizza or donut party donated by Boone County Clerk Lisa Bruder, who organized the contest.
All funds raised through voting will directly support the Boone County “Shop with a Cop” program, helping local law enforcement provide holiday gifts to children in need. After the contest concludes, all wreaths will be raffled off, with raffle proceeds benefiting the Child Advocacy Center, which provides critical services to vulnerable children in the community.
Clerk Bruder created the contest as a way to spark holiday spirit, encourage cooperation among county agencies, and raise money for local charitable causes.
“This is a chance for the public to join in some holiday fun while supporting programs that make a real difference for Boone County families,” Bruder said.
The wreaths are available for viewing on the first floor of the rotunda in the historic Boone County Courthouse during regular business hours. Visitors are encouraged to stop in, enjoy the creativity on display and cast a vote supporting their favorite design.
