We are also responsible for bridges which have a span of 20 or more feet on all roads in Boone County which are not state highways.

Below you will find information regarding several components of the infrastructure our department maintains.

Road Surface Types and Condition Maps

Since 2015 the Boone County Highway Department has annually inspected and rated every segment of our road system.  This rating system (PASER) has become an industry standard and provides our department important information necessary to develop long range plans for road surface preservation.

The PASER scale is a rating system for road pavement condition developed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Transportation Information Center and uses visual inspection to evaluate surface conditions.  The maps below include information, including PASER ratings for each of the road segments in our jurisdiction.  Boone County maintains 420 miles of paved roads they are rated on a 1-10 scale and 320 miles of unpaved roads that are rated on a 1-5 scale.
