At-Large Council Member
Brian Buchanan currently serves as an At-Large member of the Boone County Council. He began his service to the citizens of Boone County in August 2016. On the Council, Brian serves on the Insurance Committee and the Wage / Salary Committee. Additionally, he serves as the Council liaison to the Clerk, Assessor, Recorder, and EMA offices. Buchanan also represents the County Council on the Boone County Emergency Management Association Board and Boone Economic Development Corporation Board.
Buchanan works with the family transportation and logistics business, Buchanan Hauling and Rigging, Inc. The business operates over 300 tractor / trailers and a logistics-management division equally as large. His primary responsibilities include sales management and customer development. Prior to joining the family business, Buchanan worked for 8 years with the Indiana FFA Foundation where, for 6 years, he served as its Executive Director. While with FFA, his primary duties were to raise funds, develop partnerships, and secure resources for FFA programs. Brian earned his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education from Purdue University, and is a graduate of the Indiana Leadership Forum, a statewide leadership-development program.
In addition to his professional career, Buchanan is active in a number of civic and volunteer activities. He currently serves on the AgrIInstitute Board of Directors (Chairman 2011-2013) and the Indiana FFA Leadership Center Committee (Chairman 2011-present). The Buchanan family is also active with Lebanon Christian Church, Indiana Farm Bureau, and Purdue University.
Brian Buchanan lives in northern Boone County with his wife, Elisha, and their children, Chase (4) and Alessandra (3).
